Just the other day as I posted the Top Search Stories of the month I was "complaining" that there was a lack of search news this month, boy was this premature...later in the week we have seen some pretty big stories come through the wires. Here's a quick look at some of the more interesting search related stories of the past day or two.
Google is working on a "big brand marketing dashboard" that will integrate data from advertisers regarding search, display and offline marketing efforts.
Live Search rolled out some new features including improvements with word stemming (unlike Google Live Search lets you stick with the precise spelling you entered...)
Google is Re-Designing products for Chinese users (specifically for mobile users)
To help with the Website Optimizer program, Google has launched a series of online seminars
Yahoo's Search Assist is now available in the U.K.
Of course there was the Google PageRank update that appears to have targeted those sites participating in paid links (ie. link farms). All of you link brokers figure it out, it's about relevancy. While you may be able to "manipulate" the search results temporarily, if he page isn't relevant the engines and more importantly the users don't want to see it.
Firefox made $56 million from Google last year
Of course you probably heard of the little story that Microsoft purchased a 1.6% share in Facebook. (This story is totally over-inflated.. the fact is that Microsoft still needs help when it comes to search...)
