I Used The Web to Discover Mitch Joel
Monday, October 01, 2007
It is amazing that in this day and age of the Internet that there are still resources that I have yet to come across that are of interest to me. I use a number of feed readers and am often sent various online resources to review, yet there is still so much that I have yet to wander across. Case in point, I came across the name of Mitch Joel as I was doing a few queries in Google. The title of "Marketing & Personal Branding Expert" in the SERP results triggered my curiosity about "Mitch Joel".

For those of you who don't know who Mitch Joel is, he is President of Twist Image - an award-winning Digital Marketing agency based in Montreal, Quebec. In 2006, he was named one of the most influential authorities on Blog Marketing in the world. According to his profile on his blog, Mitch Joel is:
a marketing and communications visionary, interactive expert, community leader, Blogger, Podcaster and believer in doing the impossible. But mostly, he is a passionate Entrepreneur and Speaker who connects with people worldwide by sharing his marketing insights on Marketing, Communications, Personal Branding and the Digital Marketing space.
Furthermore he is Canadian. Very cool. I must admit that being in the search engine marketing industry for as long as I have, I am embarrassed to say that I had not heard of Mitch Joel. I started checking out his blog and his site and was quickly impressed with what I saw.

His most recent post is a podcast entitled, episode #71 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. In this podcast, he takes a deeper look into what people are looking for (and why) when they visit a Website. This episode has an amazing CarCast with Bryan Eisenberg and Avinash Kaushik. There is a lot of philosophy and insights about consumers, their online experiences, voice of the customer, and where the Web will (hopefully) go. This is very cool and something that is near and dear to my heart as this is something that we at Enquiro focus on with a number of our research studies and eye tracking initiatives.

His blog is killer! Lots of great content including a ton of podcasts and links to other great resources such as What's Your Brand Mantra? by Jennifer Rice, Church Of The Customer - Ben McConnell & Jackie Huba and a ton of other great resources. I am envious as this is what a blog should be. This is a very cool online destination. (and no he's not paying me to write this...)
Six Pixels of Separation - The Twist Image Blog is marketing and communications insights from the edge. If blogs, podcasts, viral marketing, consumer generated content, search engine marketing and anything related to digital marketing or interactive marketing are on your radar, this Montreal based business blog is for you. While many online marketers have giant egos and pretend to be "rock-stars" and members of exclusive cliques, Mitch Joel understands the importance of digital and online marketing. He is about stuff and not the "fluff".

It's not often that we add a new resource to our blogroll, but welcome aboard Mitch Joel and Twist Image.

This goes to show just how powerful of a tool the Internet can be. I stumbled upon Six Pixels of Separation and Mitch Joel by mistake, yet I can guarantee that this will become one of the top resources that I will be referring to in the future. Search is about the need to acquire information. While conducting a search, I was able to use the Internet to discover Mitch Joel. Someone I never knew existed until today.

    Hi Mitch,
Thanks for stopping by. I love your stuff! (Couldn't believe that I never came across it before.) I was talking with Gord (Hotchkiss) and he mentioned that the two of you have conversed before. Very cool.

I will be spending some time going through your blog and site, as they are tremendous sources of information. Maybe, we can talk in the future. I'd like to hear more about the progress of your book.

    Great stuff!
