||With SES NY just around the corner, I thought that it would be interesting to examine a Search Engine Strategies conference from an exhibitor's point of view. I had the pleasure of interviewing Manish Chowdhary the Founder & CEO of GoECart.com. Goecart has been an ongoing exhibitor at SES NY (and is one of the premier sponsors) for more than 4 years running.
We asked Manish about Goecart's participation with Search Engine Strategies New York and what it means to be a part of SES NY. He had a lot of great things to say about Search Engine Strategies and about the search industry in general. Here's the entire interview with Manish.
[Jody Nimetz - SEO-Space] What are your expectations as an exhibitor for SES NY '08?
[Manish Chowdhary] We expect to see record attendance at SES NY ’08 and continued excitement among both attendees and exhibitors, even as the search industry matures. This year, we will be officially announcing two major strategic alliances at the show, one with CampaignerPro E-mail Marketing Solutions and other with LivePerson live chat CRM solution. GoECart will also be unveiling its mid-size e-commerce solution offering geared at growth focused merchants who want the cutting edge online retail technology but are not ready or willing to risk six figures plus and long implementation cycles with other enterprise vendors. Thus, we expect to particularly see a lot of activity at the GoECart booth (#1008) this year. I also expect a lot of speculation and predictions being made about the future of search and search industry in the wake of potential Microsoft-Yahoo merger, Ask.com re-branding and Google’s slowing growth rate.
[Jody] GoECart has been an exhibitor at SES NY for four years running, what keeps you coming back?

[Jody] Great stuff! What types of metrics do you measure for ROI on these types of conferences?
[Manish Chowdhary] We track both qualitative and quantitative measures to determine event ROI. Below are some metrics we care about:

2. Total sales resulting from closed leads
3. Increased Brand Awareness and Reputation
4. Booth traffic impressions
5. Press Release Coverage (Number picked up by industry publications)
6. Press meetings/interview and new media relationships developed
7. Document and key learning from customers and partners at the show
8. Market Research and Competitive information collected
[Jody] How important is it to have a presence at SES NY from a competitive perspective?
[Manish Chowdhary] Because GoECart is an Ecommerce Software and Technology provider, we do not have as much direct competition here. However, SES allows GoECart to further differentiate itself from the competition and reinforce GoECart’s position as the most search engine friendly ecommerce solution on the market, bar none! We in fact see other SEO/SEM service and tool providers as our potential partners who can maximize their value addition by leveraging the SEO friendly ecommerce platform such as GoECart.
[Jody] What advice do you have for others who may be attending or exhibiting at SES NY for the first time?
[Manish Chowdhary] The popularity and attendance of SES has grown tremendously over the years; which in turn draws both exhibitors and attendees in record numbers each year. Thus, there will be more traffic and less time for the attendees to walk the show floor. With maturing search industry, it’s important for exhibitors to differentiate themselves even more in order to stand out and attract the right prospects. So, exhibitors must strive to appeal to their target market and have a compelling value proposition that can be explained in less than 60 seconds.
As for the first time attendee, it may be a little overwhelming. So, they should try to carefully select the conference sessions they wish to attend and the companies they want to meet and manage their time wisely. And most importantly, have fun!!
[Jody] That is some great advice. I know that when I attended my first SES Conference it was quite overwhelming with lots to see and do.
