||Rock Legend, Guitar God, Poet Extraordinaire Chuck Berry turns 81 tomorrow. Thursday marks the eighty-first birthday of one of the greatest poets and entertainers of our time. Berry, the duck-walking, guitar-playing, song writing genius who defined rock n' roll music with such classics as"Johnny B. Goode,""Sweet Little Sixteen"and"Maybelline," still packs 'em in after these years.
|The legendary Chuck Berry was born on October 18, 1926. To many, myself included, Chuck Berry is one of rock and rolls greatest pioneers. Born Charles Edward Anderson Berry, he is The Man or as many call him, "The Prime Minister of Rock 'n' Roll". There are a number of memorable quotes that people have used to describe Mr. Berry over the years.
He use to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Or sit beneath the trees by the railroad track.
Oh, the engineers used to see him sitting in the shade,
Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made.
The People passing by, they would stop and say
Oh my that little country boy could play
- Excerpt from "Johnny B. Goode"
"If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'."
-- John Lennon
"[My mama] said, 'You and Elvis are pretty good, but you're no Chuck Berry.'"
-- Jerry Lee Lewis
"There's only one true king of rock 'n' roll. His name is Chuck Berry."
-- Stevie Wonder
"Jimi Hendrix played guitar, the Beatles wrote songs, Kiss perfected theatrics and stage presence, but Chuck Berry did it all."

Ridin' along in my automobile
My baby beside me at the wheel
I stole a kiss at the turn of a mile
My curiosity runnin' wildCruisin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go.
- Excerpt from "No Particular Place to Go"
Just let me hear some of that
Rock And Roll Music,
Any old way you choose it;
It's got a back beat, you can't lose it,
Any old time you use it.
It's gotta be Rock And Roll Music,
If you want to dance with me,
